Coach + Team Parent — Who owns what

A one-page reference for coaches and team parent reps. Print it for the team, share it in the season-kickoff meeting, and revisit when lines blur.

The biggest team parent feedback theme last season was role overlap — coaches and team parents communicating the same thing twice, or neither communicating because each thought the other had it. This page exists so the season-kickoff conversation is shorter.

Suggested season-kickoff conversation

Before the first practice, the head coach and team parent should sit down (or hop on a call) for ten minutes and confirm:

  1. Who runs GameChanger each game (the coach, team parent, or a recruited parent)?
  2. Who owns the team chat — coach, team parent, or both? Which platform?
  3. Who sends day-of game reminders (weather, arrival time)?
  4. How will league announcements get into the team chat — direct from team parent, or via coach?
  5. Who handles uniform pickup and missing-piece complaints?

For new coaches

The "Official Team Parents" program is in its second season. If you haven't worked with one before: the team parent is your communication partner for everything off the field. Lean on them. They want you to lean on them.

For new team parents

Your job is to be the funnel — league announcements come down through Lisa and out through you. You don't need to know baseball. You don't need to be the head coach's spouse. The role is open to any parent who wants to help organize the team off the field.

Start with the Parent Resources hub and the First-Timer Family Guide — both are written for your audience.
